We're just three weeks away from the on-sale date of the final volume in Lois McMaster Bujold's SHARING KNIFE series -- but that doesn't mean you can't get a head start! Our Browse Inside widget is now up and running -- click through to read the first 20% of the book (the first 86 pages) for free.
AND -- for any readers who love Bujold's other work but haven't yet given this series a try -- we're making the first volume, Beguilement, 100% available for the month of January (1/6 -- 1/27). Click through here for the Browse Inside widget -- all 361 pages available FREE, through your PC!
I have read all the books up to the final and I am really looking forward to the last one. It sounds awesome.

Finished reading the final book (ARC) over the xmas break. Great book and a nice conclusion to the series. My review should be up any day now.

I appreciate your generosity in making the first book in the series available for free, but your Browse Inside widget is just awful: because the width of the text is limited, it takes up perhaps only a quarter of the browser window. As a result, the type is much smaller (and harder to read) than it needs to be.
In comparison, the reader in Google Books will zoom in to any extent you like.

Agree with Graeme. I'm partial to just having a pdf version so I can print it out (I don't read books on the computer screen and don't have/want a Kindle, etc.). Tor has made great use of free pdf versions of a number of their books; the worst it's done is generate buzz for their authors and promote their work.

I have to agree about the (non)ease of reading the preview. I love the story - of course I was already a sure sale, I love everything Bujold writes. But you must remember that not everyone has young, 20/20 eyes. I had to reduce my screen resolution to 800x600 to be able to barely make out the text. I am afraid a difficult-to-read preview is worse than no preview at all as a come-on for the book. I recommend the Baen Publishing model of free chapters in HTML, easily adjustable by the reader.
That said, thanks for the peek. Only 10 more days . . .
