What am I enjoying right now? I’m enjoying Autumn in our part of the world. I don’t cope well with the Australian summer; it’s just too hot and I’m no beach babe but I love these cooler months when it’s mild and sunny and the skies are very blue and the landscape goes green. It’s perfect. I’ve rediscovered television. I gave it up for several years but teenagers in the house ensure I’m dragged into everything from reality shows to full on drama. I’m a terrible 24 tragic…I adore Jack Bauer, but I refuse to watch him on anything but long haul DVD with just stacks of chocolate and nibbles and a whole weekend free.
Beyond Jack I’ve been sucked into Grey’s Anatomy by my kids and now I’m very McFreaky about it –- can’t miss an episode. And Ugly Betty is fun and harmless and we all love its biting undertone but predictably happy endings. I swear Betty’s going to end up with Daniel but I howled that from the rooftops from the opening episode.
I’m enjoying cooking right now too. Autumn/winter means lovely slow cooked meals and permission to bake cakes and biscuits simply to fill the house with that comforting fug of smells and warmth. I’m loving flat boots as well as stiletto boots, I’m loving soft and stretchy velvet cords and the promise that very soon I’ll be able to clamber back into sweaters and cosy gear. I don’t get much time to read for pleasure but I do read a great deal for research and that’s ongoing so my bedside table is always laden with books from life in medieval times to simple books on words or recipes that can help me.
Cheers, F.
