SF Signal has started an interesting debate on what effect online book reviews have, with participants include David Hartwell of Tor Books, James Patrick Kelley, Alan Beatts of Borderlands Books, and a number of online reviewers and bloggers.
The debate is here.
For my part, I know that we're doing more and more with online reviews at Eos, from our First Look and Advance Reader reviews (we'll have more reader review chances in January, btw, to keep watching), to sending out more copies to online reviewers, etc. And on a personal level I think any way you can reach readers and find out what they're thinking or like or are interested in is helpful.
