Here at Eos we wanted to take a moment to toast the launch of our friend Stephen V. Beirne's fantastic novel,
November Reign, as an e-book.
A freshman at Malone University in Ohio, Stephen began to write November Reign as a high school student while being treated for chordoma. Working with the Make-A-Wish foundation, Stephen partnered with The Learned Owl Bookshop and with some of our favorite publishing colleagues here in New York City as his novel made the journey from manuscript to published trade paperback. He celebrated the book's release in 2008, donating the proceeds to the Make-A-Wish foundation.
But Stephen wasn't finished with the characters he created in his debut novel. And we are thrilled to share that his next book, a prequel called October Bane--has been completed. We'll keep you posted with publication date news--in the meantime, you can check out an excerpt of October Bane here.
Stephen writes, "When thinking about where to head after writing November Reign, I first thought about writing a sequel. In fact, the idea for a prequel never really occurred to me at all. I had tried a few beginnings, but wasn't satisfied with anything that I started. It was actually Denise Dolence at HarperCollins who suggested that I write a prequel. She said that I should write about what happened previously concerning my protagonist Ruarc and the treasure map. After Denise gave me that suggestion, the idea for writing a prequel really took off in my mind."
Stephen also revealed to Eos that the trilogy will be completed with a sequel to November Reign.
We are thrilled for Stephen about the release of his e-book, and in awe of all that he has accomplished. To celebrate with us, please leave a comment here toasting Stephen on his accomplishments and one Eos blog reader who comments will win a paperback copy of the debut novel, November Reign. And don't forget to become a fan of Stephen V. Beirne on Facebook!
What an accomplishment! Congratulations. I had always heard it was a beginning, a muddle, and an end. You turned the world on its head and started with the middle, successfully.

I think that it is great that most of the newer books come in digital version like e-book or for kindle.
